What genres do you edit?
I specialize in editing romance fiction, including contemporary, erotic, fantasy, historical, new adult, paranormal, suspense, young adult, and women’s fiction. I am also open to romance-related and romance cross-genre manuscripts provided they are a good fit.
What is your approach to editing?
I view editing as a collaborative process. My goal is to help writers learn and grow as we work together to polish their work while maintaining their creative vision and voice.
How long does the editing process take?
This depends on the size of the manuscript, the services requested, and my current schedule. On average, my turnaround time is between two and four weeks once I begin work on a manuscript. We will decide on a mutually acceptable schedule together.
How do I format my manuscript to send?
I accept manuscripts via Microsoft Word. Please submit them as follows: 12-point Arial or Times New Roman font, double-spaced with one-inch margins, left justified, numbered, and with page breaks and a single space after periods.
How are my edits returned?
I utilize Track Changes, a feature in Word that allows you to see changes that have been made. You will be able to accept or reject suggested changes and incorporate them into your final manuscript as you see fit. I also leave queries and comments in the margins using the Comments feature. Finally, I provide a typed summary of key comments via email with the return of the edited manuscript.
Do you provide a sample edit?
Yes. I provide a sample edit of about 1,000 word so you may see the quality of my work. This will also allow me to see which service is right for your manuscript.
What style guide do you use?
My primary references are The Chicago Manual of Style, 17th ed, and Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary, 11th ed.
When and how do I pay?
Upon entering into an agreement, a deposit of 25% of the total service price is required prior to work beginning. The remaining balance is due upon receipt of the completed manuscript. Please contact me for a list of the payment options I accept.
Do your services include more than one pass?
Yes. I include a complete second pass to your manuscript as a result of changes made due to recommendations from my original editing/proofreading.

Why should I hire a professional editor?
With a fresh set of eyes, an editor can objectively identify your strengths and weaknesses and provide critical feedback to enhance your manuscript. You are hiring someone to do what he or she does best—edit. An editor will help make your writing as polished as possible. Remember, the best marketing for your next book is the quality of your current book.
Why can't I just use editing software?
Editing software can be incredibly helpful. However, there is no replacement for experienced human eyes to know if the software is suggesting the correct changes. No person or software will catch everything, which is why I highly recommend utilizing software as part of your self-editing process before sending your work to a professional editor.
